Disordered Nation is a medium to voice opinions and comment on social and current issues related to eating disorders. This website displays a part of the community we live in, where diverse personalities and opinions exist. With free speech comes the maturity to accept different views from your own and allow those views to be expressed openly.
We can't shield women from culture, and while some eating disorder and recovery websites may prove to have profound value, they sometimes involve non-reciprocal responsibilities and roles that may be altruistic based. A virtual community does not substitute for an actual community. Friends and emaciated women on the street do not come with "trigger warnings."
Eating disorders thrive on isolation and oppression, and through connections with others and the opportunity to speak freely, sufferers are often able to identify the damaging effects associated with these disorders. This is not a sub-culture representation of thinness for anorectics, which means this website does not feature harmful tips or diets.
